The Saint Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin Is One Of The Most Valuable Of It's Kind

All of the Mint Gold Coins are considered to be collector items. However, one of the most valuable is the Saint Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin. This breathtakingly beautiful coin was produced by the United States Mint from the years 1907 through 1933. The person of inspiration at the time was the legendary Irish-American Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The was ultimately named after this infamous sculptor, who was ask to do the artwork for this glorious masterpiece. Although Mr. Saint-Gaudens didn't have good experiences with the head Mint Coin Designer Mr. Charles E. Barber, he decided to finally give in to the request of President Theodore Roosevelt.

Mr. Saint-Gaudens provided intricate details to the Saint Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin that would ultimately be named after him by implementing "high reliefs" which is a term used in sculpting. However, due to poor and failing health, the initial manufacturing of the Coin was delayed several times, and Mr. Saint-Gaudens Died before the design was actually put out. The end designed was edited and completed by Mr. Charles Baker.

As of 2002 the Saint Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin had a face value worth of over $7500.00 dollars. This was of course appraised by a private collector, but still considered to be very true and factual. This beautiful work of art is 90% solid 24K Gold and 10% Copper. The reason for the small percentage of copper is that pure gold is too soft in structure, and needs a more stable medal to hold it's structure and design.

By most professional US Mint Coin Collectors and Professional Coin Appraisers, the Saint Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin is considered to be the most expensive and value and overall worth. It is one of the rarest coins around, with less than 100 still around. By US Mint standards, this coin is the "creme de la creme" of all of the United States Mint collectible coins ever produced. If an avid collectors of these remarkable gems has one of these in their collection, it's a rare day when they will actually sell it. These coins are not only a money investment, but they are even more of an emotional and highly personal love and investment.
